new national curriculum requirement to teach health & safety

From the beginning of the 2007/8 school year, schools are now required by the National Curriculum to teach Health & Safety. It's a potential minefield for schools and LEAs faced with a new set of requirements. However, Pathways Training's new Health & Safety Skills Kit is the perfect solution. Designed to operate from CD, on an intranet or the internet, the interactive course provides everything you need to comply with the requirements.

When working with tools, equipment and materials, in practical activities and in different environments, including those that are unfamiliar, pupils should be taught:
about hazards, risks and risk control
to recognise hazards, assess consequent risks and take steps to control the risks to themselves and others
to use information to assess the immediate and cumulative risks
to manage their environment to ensure the health and safety of themselves and others
to explain the steps they take to control risks.

The Teach & Test program is an interactive aid which allows pupils to work on their own, learning about the subject and testing themselves on their knowledge. At the end of the program evidence of a pass is produced in the form of a printable certificate. The program is designed to make learning about Health & Safety interesting, relevant and fun. Real world situations are shown with the help of lively animated cartoon characters, revealing the potential hazards in a workplace environment. The program is fully approved by ASDAN and is the ideal way to meet the new requirements of the National Curriculum with the minimum amount of staff input.
