about pathways training
Pathways Training and Development was involved in a major educational programme with Sunderland Local Authority, part of which included an extended work placement over two years with the three biggest employers in the region. Pathways Training developed a six lesson programmme booklet, with lesson plans and an interactive assessment, to ensure that no pupil went out on work experience without a basic understanding of Health & Safety. The programme is now accredited by the awarding body ASDAN.
On researching what other smaller employers wanted in terms of Health & Safety, it soon became clear that there were many firms, particularly those centred around an office environment, who did not realise that they were responsible for the training of all their staff in manual handling.
In 2005/2006 the Business and Finance sectors were responsible for 56% of non-fatal injuries involving handling, slipping and tripping.
A major problem for firms is not so much the cost of bringing in a Health & Safety trainer, but the cost of having to take their staff off-task for the training to be carried out. To overcome this, a second programme for the work sector, was put onĀ CD so that staff could do the course at any convenient time, and after completion of six multi choice questions, the system generates a certificate to prove that the employee has been given a basic course in manual handling.
Pathways Training has now formed a partnership with multimedia production company Creative Imagineers to deliver a new range of generic and bespoke solutions to in-house induction and training across a wide range of business types.
